Benefits of Slipform

Younglove pioneered modern slipform construction techniques 70+ years ago. Today, we continue this tradition with our state-of-the-art slipform concrete process, ensuring faster completion times, greater structural strength, and a structure with more longevity than other building materials. Watch our Slipform Concrete expertise in action here.

Benefits of Slipform Concrete Construction

Speed and Efficiency: The slipform system consists of a platform supported by hydraulic jacks or other lifting mechanisms. As the concrete is poured, the formwork is gradually raised, creating a seamless, monolithic structure. This allows for continuous pouring of concrete, which significantly speeds up the construction process resulting in shorter times from excavation to final completion.

Improved Structural Integrity: The continuous nature of slipform construction results in monolithic structures without joints. This enhances the durability, strength, and longevity of silos, grain elevators, feed, and flour mills.  Slipform concrete structures are also more resistant to environmental stress and typically result in reduced operational and maintenance costs.  Our clients have also stated their insurance rates are less than with alternate building materials.

Efficiency: Slipform is highly efficient in terms of both labor and time. Since the process is continuous, it reduces the need for stopping and starting, which can save significant amounts of time.

Safety: Slipform construction minimizes the requirement for working at heights with temporary structures.  For milling structures, the concrete slipform walls result in fewer dust ledges than alternate building materials.

Cost-Effective: By reducing the time and materials needed for construction, slipform methods can be more cost-effective in the long run.

Versatility: Slipform construction is adaptable to various shapes and sizes, making it suitable for nearly unlimited sizes of storage bins, processing facilities, and other structures within the grain industry milling industry. Taking advantage of height and gravity creates a more efficient facility by reducing the facility’s footprint which results in reduced operating and maintenance costs.
